The unofficial fringe to Whitby Gothic Weekend has evolved...
Latest news:
The weekend is gearing up to be a good one! Accommodation booking is looking better than other weekends and we have new things happening all the time. We are attracting a new crowd to Whitby aswell so onwards and upwards!
It is with a renewed sense of hope that we today have to announce we will not be continuing with the live music in The Spa over April 2011 @ Whitby. After a lot of number crunching and talking to other promoters we have decided to focus on the main reason people are coming in April, the Gothic Market, the fringe events, the pubs & the friends. It would be impossible to imagine letting the bands play to a smaller audience than they deserve, or continuing the event with no atmosphere in such an extensive venue. Anybody who has bought tickets for The Spa events, including The Circus of Horrors, will be refunded in full! With retrospect we were aware at the beginning that The Spa was no longer the draw it used to be and that the many fringe events we and other promoters ran were ever increasing in popularity and thus we have decided to do what we all do best and focus on making April the biggest fringe and shopping event possible. With this in mind we are expanding our events throughout town, introducing new nights and putting the focus on our extensive Gothic Market. Announcements about new events will be made shortly but of course you should already have your shopping lists ready for those purchases in April. The future holds equally as positive things for us. In October we will be working alongside The Bram Stoker International Film Festival to bring you a massive event throughout town to compliment their events in The Spa. This will include live music, club & pub nights and of course the largest Gothic Market in Whitby. We hope that you can join us in April and October 2011 for a plethora of delights and we hope for some form of unity for 2012, as we feel Ms Hampshire’s decision to split events has had a negative impact upon the scene. Join us for 2 weekends of ‘Goth’ and more: April 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th 2011 & October 28th, 29th, 30th & 31st 2011 -------------------------------------------------------------------------
